Talk Time Croatian
The flagship programme

Croatian Quadrant™

A1 to A2. One year. A cohort of people who take Croatian seriously.

The Croatian Quadrant™ is my flagship programme, a structured, year-long path from first foundations to confident, living Croatian. It runs once a year, beginning in January, with a small cohort of learners who are ready to commit to the process.

I designed it around a simple conviction: adults learn languages best when the learning is coherent, sequential, and culturally anchored. Not lessons assembled at random, but a genuine arc, a beginning, a middle, and an arrival.

Why it is called the Quadrant

The name is not accidental. The Church of the Holy Cross in Nin is a perfect square, four sides holding a cross at its centre. Four pillars. One foundation. The same logic that built that church is the logic that builds this programme.

The people who join are rarely beginners in the casual sense. They come with history: a grandmother's voice they want to reach, a partner's family they want to belong to, a self that existed in another language before emigration carried it elsewhere. Many are heritage speakers who understand more than they can confidently say. Many have studied before and feel stuck somewhere around A1 to A2. What they share is not a starting level but a seriousness. They want structure and depth, not entertainment.

The sessions are live and the group is small. I know every student by name and by the particular shape of their Croatian struggle. You do not need to arrive at the right level on the first day. Foundation is where most people begin, but the stages exist so you can find where you actually are and move through the year at the pace the language requires, not the calendar.

One sequence

The five courses

A beginning, a middle, an arrival.

01

Croatian Foundation

Beginning

The structural bones of the language, taught not as rules to memorise but as ways of thinking to understand.

02

Croatian Boost

Building

Vocabulary through idiom, history, and the specific emotional logic of how Croatians express things other languages struggle to name.

Ponavljanje 1

A consolidation

A breathing-out. Reinforce the essential grammar and vocabulary from Foundation and Boost so every conversation feels natural.

03

Croatian Continuum

Arriving

Where the language is no longer studied but inhabited.

Ponavljanje 2

The final consolidation

Review and refine your advanced skills to think, speak, and engage in Croatian seamlessly across any situation.

Runs alongside the courses, all year

The whole campus

The five courses are only half of what a Quadrant year holds. The rest lives in the campus itself, and it is not a bonus tacked onto the side. It is content I teach you, inside the Quadrant, how to use to build your Croatian. This is why it is called a campus, and why everything below is part of the Quadrant and not an extra.

Live sessions
Live, every week

Two live sessions a week

Grammar Therapy on Tuesdays at 08:00, and Ćakula Café on Thursdays at 20:00, Zagreb time. Once a month a masterclass on strategy and culture. Every week, all year.

The Croatian Circle
Included

The Croatian Circle

One library, four rooms. Everything in it is content I teach you to use inside the Quadrant, to build your Croatian, and not simply to browse.

Hall of Minds

Hall of Minds

Masterclasses on how adults actually learn a language: memory, strategy, mindset.

Croatian Cinema

Croatian Cinema

Croatian writers, painters, towns and museums, filmed and narrated by me.

Croatian Classics Library

Croatian Classics Library

Croatian classics adapted to A2, as downloadable PDFs and as audio I read aloud, so you can practise pronunciation against them.

Student Canteen

Student Canteen

Croatian recipes in Croatian and English, used to practise the imperative, absorb new vocabulary, and attach language to taste and memory rather than a page.

Croatian Voice Kickstart
Included

Croatian Voice Kickstart

The pronunciation work most courses skip entirely: rhythm, stress, and melody, until Croatian sounds like it belongs in your mouth.

Included

The TalkTime Click & Speak app

The Click & Speak app is part of the package too, with a short guide to installing it and using it, so your speaking practice goes wherever you do.

Community and guidance
The table

Community and guidance

A private space, off Facebook, where you ask me directly, and I answer, in writing or in the next live session.

Two ways to begin

If you can work on your own, and you would like to arrive in January with the foundations already laid, start with Croatian Entry Point (€97). The Quadrant will pick you up from there.

If you know that you do better with people, a class to attend and someone who notices when you are absent, you do not need the preparation. Put your name down below.

Honestly

Who this is for

You are a beginner, or somewhere around A2. You may have grown up with Croatian at the edge of the dinner table, or met it late through a partner or a place. You understand more than you can say, or you are starting from the first word.

If you are further along than that, the Quadrant will feel slow for you. Look at Croatian Nexus™ for a year of reading, history and structured conversation, or at Croatian Colloquium™ if all you want is to talk.

Campus Week

4 to 8 January

Five evenings at 20:00 Zagreb time, live and free. Everything about the year is explained there in detail: what each week holds, how it is paid, and whether it is right for you.

  • Nothing is charged now. Putting your name down only holds a place.
  • Enrolment opens after Campus Week, and you will get one email when it does.

Keep me a place

Put your name down and a place is held for you. That is all this does. There is no payment, no commitment, and no flood of email: one note when enrolment opens, and the Saturday Letter in between.
