This is a small circle. We meet twice a week. I know every member by name.

The Nexus is for the learner who has put in the structural work — who has the grammar, the cases, the tenses — and is now ready to use all of that as a platform for something more: Croatian as culture, as literature, as a living inheritance.
A note for heritage speakers — what I call the "baka effect": many of you grew up hearing Croatian at home and feel you have a natural understanding. But passive hearing is not the same as active mastery. If you cannot decline a noun in the Instrumental case or conjugate a verb in the Future tense on the spot, you will feel lost here. The Nexus is not a course you work through alone. It is a circle you join — twice a week, live, with Tihana and a small group of learners who are serious about the language. Everything else exists to deepen what happens in those sessions.

Twice a week we gather live for active immersion — not passive lectures. I provide real-time, gentle correction as you speak. Every session is recorded and archived in your private portal.
Each month the entire circle works around a single cultural theme — from the age of Šenoa and the national awakening to contemporary Croatian life. Grammar lives inside authentic texts and historical documents, never in isolation.
To truly belong in a language you must master its music — the rhythm, stress, and melody that textbooks rarely address. Each month we deconstruct a Croatian song and work with dedicated audio tracks to internalise the specific pitch and flow of native speech.
Each month, members write a short reflection or article based on the monthly theme. I personally review and edit every piece. The work is then published in Naš Vijenac — our community magazine, produced entirely in Croatian by the students of the Nexus. Not an exercise. A real body of work.
A private digital campus — away from social media, away from the noise — where Croatian life continues between sessions. Virtual walks through historic towns, Tihana's Zagreb kitchen with traditional recipes and videos, heritage masterclasses on history and music, and simplified Croatian classics with read-along audio. I update it continuously.
A U.S. high-school teacher reconnecting with his roots on the island of Brač. A Canadian polyglot educator with family ties to Dalmatia. An accountant from Vancouver with roots in Šumber, Istria. Her husband, an IT engineer building a life that bridges Canada and Istria. Four people, four stories, one language — written, edited, and published together.
You will not just speak Croatian. You will write it.
Every month, the members of the Nexus produce a magazine — entirely in Croatian, written, edited, and published by the circle. The February 2026 issue contains essays on why Croatian matters, stories of cities divided between two countries, and reflections on language as memory and belonging.
These are not grammar exercises. They are real pieces of writing, in real Croatian, by people who arrived here from Canada and the United States, carrying the language in different states of completeness. I edit every piece personally. Then we publish it together.
This is what the Nexus produces. Not a certificate. A body of work in the language you are claiming.

Because the Nexus operates at a high level — native-speed conversation, literary texts, academic discussion — I ask every new member to check their foundation before joining. Not to exclude, but to protect your experience. There is nothing more frustrating than arriving in a room that moves too fast.
