A Note for Heritage Speakers (The 'Baka' Effect):" Many of you grew up hearing Croatian at home and feel you have a 'passive' understanding. However, the Nexus is a high-level academic and cultural circle. If you can understand the gist of a conversation but cannot accurately decline a noun in the Instrumental case or conjugate a verb in the Future tense on the spot, you will feel lost here. Passive hearing is not the same as active mastery. If you lack the formal structure, the Year-Long Program is where you will finally turn those household echoes into a solid, professional 'Croatian Mind'.

I am Tihana Klepač, an Associate Professor at the University of Zagreb (Filozofski fakultet) with over 20 years of experience in the halls of academia. But beyond the titles and the research, my heart has always belonged to the soul of our heritage.

My journey to creating Croatian Nexus was born from a simple observation: most language courses treat Croatian like a set of math equations. They give you the rules, but they forget the heartbeat.

We speak Croatian in our seminars, but it is a "safe harbor"—if you get stuck, I am there to bridge the gap. If you are a complete beginner, my Year-Long Academy is the better place to start!

What if I can't make it to one of the live sessions?

Life happens, and my "Long Table" stretches across many time zones. Whether you miss the Tuesday 60-minute session or the Thursday 90-minute seminar, every session is recorded and uploaded to your private portal within 24 hours. You can watch the replay, take notes, and even submit your writing for Naš Vijenac even if you couldn't be there live.

Is there a long-term commitment?

Not at all. While mastery takes time, I want you to be here because you love the journey. You can pause or cancel your membership at any time. However, most members find that the rhythm of the monthly syllabus becomes a part of their identity they don't want to lose.

How much time do I need to commit each week?

To get the most out of the "4-Pillar Method," I recommend attending both weekly live sessions (Tuesday's 60-minute and Thursday's 90-minute) plus about 1 hour of "soul work" — listening to the song of the month or reading the cultural syllabus. That's roughly 3.5 hours a week, designed to fit into a busy adult's life without feeling like a heavy burden.
